Keystone Law has advised Gedeon Richter, a European multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology company, on its acquisition of the women’s health early-stage research portfolio of Celmatix Inc. Celmatix is a women’s health biotechnology company based in the United States that translates scientific advances in female biology into novel therapies.

Keystone Law’s Life Sciences solicitor Vicky Clark and Corporate partner Catherine Williams advised on the acquisition which aligns with Gedeon Richter’s strategy to expand its innovative drug development capabilities in key women’s health indications, including infertility treatment, endometriosis, and ovarian aging.

This follows Gedeon Richter signing a research collaboration and option-to-license agreement with FimmCyte AG, a Swiss biotech company. Intellectual Property partner Maureen Kelly advised the company on the partnership, which aims to advance the development of FimmCyte’s first-in-class antibody, ‘FMC2’, for the treatment of endometriosis.

Dr Péter Turek, Head of Women’s Healthcare Business Unit at Gedeon Richter, said

“The acquisition and research collaboration mark an important milestone in the execution of our strategy and reinforces our ambition to become a leader in women’s healthcare.

“We are extremely grateful for the support and expertise provided by the team at Keystone Law, who were pragmatic and professional throughout the processes.”

Maureen added:

“It was a pleasure to work with the team at Gedeon Richter and assist them in their strategy to provide innovative solutions that can significantly improve the quality of life of millions of women worldwide.”
