Gianna is an experienced family lawyer and trained mediator who advises on all family-related issues including divorce, financial relief, cohabitation, schedule 1 applications, and complex children disputes. She has expertise in navigating complex situations, including dealing with narcissistic personalities in divorce and children proceedings, divorces with substantial assets, and addressing children cases involving domestic abuse, alienation, and alcohol and drug abuse.

Gianna’s clients are largely based in the Cheshire and Wirral regions and she has a diverse range including business owners, medics, lawyers, bankers, stockbrokers, and former partners of sportsmen.

Expertise

Gianna advises on children disputes, including child arrangements, specific issue and prohibited steps orders, relocation internally and abroad, parental alienation, and cases involving domestic abuse, drug or alcohol misuse.

Experience

  • Represented the mother of a child of a Premiership footballer to obtain financial provision for her child.
  • Advised and represented a parent who wanted to relocate with their children to the USA to live with their partner, an American national.
  • Advised and represented parents who were in dispute as to which school their child should attend.
  • Advised parents who did not wish for their child to come into contact with their ex-partner’s new partner.
  • Advised and represented parents where there had been allegations and findings of alienation.
  • Advised the senior partner of a multi-international retail company in relation to child arrangement issues.

Advises on divorce and civil partnership dissolution, including financial settlements, separation agreements, spousal maintenance, pre- and post-nuptial agreements, enforcement, variation, and sensitive cases involving serious medical issues or limited life expectancy.

  • Advised a client who has several properties in England and abroad and a family business.
  • Advised an unmarried client where the ex-partner was seeking to rely on a declaration of trust that had not been varied.
  • Advised an unmarried client who had contributed significantly to a property but was not on the legal title.
  • Advised a divorcing client seeking to resile from a separation agreement.
  • Advised and represented a client in relation to downward variation of joint-lives spousal maintenance.
  • Represented a client after a final hearing in which there was a reserved judgment when they suffered a significant medical issue that had the potential to change the decision of the judiciary.
  • Advised a client in relation to an inherited farm and land that included a golf course.
  • Advised a client with a substantial medical negligence compensation award on a pre-nuptial agreement.
  • Advised a client who was the owner of a horse gambling business and was in litigation with HMRC.
  • Advised and represented clients that required a non-molestation order (injunction) because of the behaviour of their ex-partner.
  • Advised and represented a married client who had not dealt with the significant pension provision accrued during separation and post-separation as part of their financial settlement agreed directly when queried by the judge.

Gianna advises on domestic abuse matters, supporting clients with protective injunctions, legal remedies, and safety-focused strategies.

Experience

  • Represented numerous clients in achieving a non-molestation order in situations of domestic abuse and/or narcissism.
  • Successfully defended clients against non-molestation orders being made.
  • Advised clients as to the impact of domestic abuse on both children and divorce case.

Advises on international family law matters, including injuncting divorces abroad and relocating children across borders, guiding clients through cross-jurisdictional legal complexities.

Gianna advises high-net-worth individuals on complex family matters, including pre-nuptial agreements, significant pension provisions, and Schedule 1 Children Act proceedings, ensuring tailored strategies for sophisticated financial and family arrangements.

Experience

  • Represented a large number of clients with significant assets.
  • Represented a wife in a short marriage case, where the assets exceeded £5 million and the parties had three very young children.
  • Represented the CEO of an international company who had a complex bonus and share structure.
  • Advised a client in relation to the sharing of a significant pension, part of which was accumulated post-separation and as a consequence of a new high-profile occupation.
  • Advised on a pre-nuptial agreement involving assets worth £250 million.
