Terrence advises on international and domestic family law, with a particular focus on complex, high-value cases including divorce and financial proceedings, as well as children’s matters arising from the family breakdown. His work often involves cross-border disputes and cases that involve contested jurisdictions and has spanned Europe, Middle East, Russia, Asia, and the United States.

Terrence studied law and commerce with a specialisation in tax which paved the way to his specialisation in complex finance work. He also regularly works alongside forensic accountants for clients who believe that their spouse may be hiding or moving assets or are otherwise being deceptive with family wealth. He also deals with a variety of cases, in particular clients looking to leave a controlling and difficult relationship and who wish to have robust legal representation.

Expertise

Terrence advises on complex financial remedies involving corporate structures, trusts, and international assets. He is experienced in post-foreign divorce claims, asset protection, freezing injunctions, and setting aside transactions to prevent dissipation.

Experience

  • Advised on substantial capital and maintenance awards for clients, including securing a school fees order.
  • Advised on successful negotiation of favourable pre-nuptial agreements for the financially weaker party.
  • Advised on successful court applications compelling extensive financial disclosure, including securing cost orders against non-compliant parties.
  • Advised on applications for substantial interim maintenance, resulting in continuation on a final basis.
  • Advised on variation applications to set aside maintenance orders and obtain clean break orders.
  • Advised on representation of clients with worldwide assets in excess of £500 million.

Terrence handles all aspects of child-related disputes, including living arrangements, international relocation, and financial provision under Schedule 1. Focused on safeguarding children’s welfare in both domestic and cross-border contexts.

Experience

  • Advised on applications to resist a spouse relocating overseas with the children, successfully preventing the move.
  • Advised on representation of clients seeking a change of school and obtaining a child arrangements order.
  • Advised on several highly complex Schedule 1 applications for financial provision on behalf of children.

Terrence supports clients at early stages to progress stalled negotiations or prepare for hearing. His is experienced in securing urgent non-molestation and occupation orders in cases involving domestic abuse or coercive behaviour.

  • Advised on applications which involved seeking protection for controlling and coercive behaviours.
  • Advised on applications which involved elements of economic abuse combined with controlling and coercive behaviours
  • Advised on representation of clients at round-table meetings to progress stalled negotiations and avoid litigation.
  • Advised on strategy and navigating difficult circumstances to find a pathway to a negotiated settlement outside of court, including the use of non-court dispute resolution processes, such as lawyer-led mediation, arbitration, and early neutral evaluation.

Terrence advises on all aspects of matrimonial finance and private children law disputes, with a focus on cases with an international element. He also advises on property law issues for unmarried couples.
