Thibaut is an experienced EU lawyer specialising in EU data and digital regulation, with strong experience in the regulation of AI and new technologies, intellectual property, pharmaceutical law, and competition law. He advises on strategic compliance and design under EU digital rules.  

Thibaut acts for a wide range of clients, including leading pharma and tech companies, global brands, online marketplaces, as well as businesses in the entertainment and creative industries. He provides strategic legal and regulatory counsel with a particular focus on the interplay between various areas such as data and AI governance and accountability, platform responsibilities, and digital service obligations. 

Thibaut works across a range of regulated industries, including life sciences, medtech, and online platforms, and is fluent in Dutch, English, French, and German. 

Expertise

Thibaut is a certified Data Protection Officer advising on EU and Member State compliance, audits, policies, international data transfers, regulatory procedures, and integrating data protection into technology, competition, and pharmaceutical projects. 

Experience

  • Set up the GDPR compliance structure at several EU and US companies in the life science sector. 
  • Represented a major tech company before national and EU courts. 
  • Assisted various companies with international transfers of personal data and registration under the EU US Data Protection Framework (DPF). 

Thibaut specialises in EU and UK AI and digital regulation, guiding organisations through complex and rapidly evolving frameworks including the EU AI Act, Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, NIS2, the European Accessibility Act, and the UK Online Safety Act. He regularly advises both EU-based and international companies on compliance, market entry strategy, and regulatory risk in the digital economy. 

Experience

  • Supported a US medtech company preparing EU/UK market entry under AI and data protection rules. 
  • Strategic advice to major publishers on the impact and implementation of the European Accessibility Act. 
  • Counselled a multinational hardware and services provider on NIS2 classification and notification obligations across the EU. 

Thibaut advises leading online platforms including marketplaces, e-commerce operators, and digital service providers on navigating complex EU and UK digital rules. His practice focuses on compliance, platform liability, consumer protection, accessibility, and safe-by-design approaches under emerging regulatory frameworks.

Experience

  • Advising a global online marketplace on illegal content, risk assessments, and governance duties under the UK Online Safety Act. 
  • Counselling an e-commerce platform on product liability for infringing goods, handling notice-and-takedown and seller compliance under EU law.  
  • Supporting an e-commerce website with implementation of the European Accessibility Act requirements. 

Thibaut has extensive expertise in EU pharmaceutical and medtech regulation, supporting companies and public bodies on the full product lifecycle from clinical trials and health data governance to distribution, labelling, marketing, and EU-wide registration pathways. He advises on strategic and compliance challenges for both innovative digital health solutions and traditional medicinal products across the EU market.

Experience

  • Supported a multinational company on global clinical trials, including contracting with CROs, suppliers, and hospital sites. 
  • Advised the government of an EU Member State on establishing PCR testing infrastructure during the COVID-19 crisis. 
  • Guided the development of a compliant EU-wide online platform for the sale of medicines, medical devices, and food products.    
  • Prepared a template for the use of Real World Data together with stakeholders from hospitals and the innovative pharmaceutical industry.
