Katy is a company/commercial solicitor who also specialises in employment matters. This unique blend enables her to act for companies, owner-managers, investors, employers as well as employees.

Expertise

Katy advises businesses on a wide range of company and commercial matters, including joint ventures, shareholder agreements and business start-ups. She also advises on commercial contracts and company law matters. 

Experience

  • In-house lawyer experience 
  • Delivery of  contract and employment law seminars and workshops for clients 
  • Led the sale of a watch distribution company 
  • Carried out a governance review for a large member organisation (company limited by guarantee) with a complex member and governance structure  
  • Drafted multi-layer sponsorship agreements for a higher education body 
  • Drafted members agreement for a limited liability partnership (publishing business) 
  • Advised on contracts for the supply of bespoke-design goods by a UK company  

Katy assists employers and employees with all aspects of employment law, including contracts, disciplinary and grievance issues, TUPE, and termination matters. She also advises on redundancy, discrimination claims, and the enforcement of restrictive covenants.

Experience

  • Advised on a major re-structuring process in a financial services business, with a view to minimising the number of compulsory redundancies 
  • Advised a company in the construction industry on employment matters (including disciplinary and grievance issues, redundancies etc) 
  • Reviewed and updated the employment contracts and policies of Lloyd’s broking companies 
  • Advised employer in sex discrimination case brought by female finance director when male colleague promoted to Chief Executive 
  • Advised a Chief Executive on the termination of their employment by a public company  
  • Advised global logistics company on TUPE issues arising from major outsourcing contract

  • Advised independent schools on employment issues, commercial contracts, regulatory matters and parent complaints
