Keystone Law now offers an innovative solution to those seeking to challenge tax rulings from HMRC. Tax lawyer Matheu Smith has teamed up with Tarlochan Lall of Monckton Chambers to offer competitive fixed fees for fighting tax appeals. A two stage pricing structure has been developed and the full fees are only payable if the appeal is successful.
The tax system is extremely complex and it is not uncommon for a business to face an unexpected demand from HMRC for payment of additional tax, interest and penalties. It is also not uncommon for such a business to want to challenge HMRC’s demand through the formal review process, however HMRC often will not back down even in the face of clear evidence that HMRC is likely to be wrong.
The way forward is for the business to pursue an appeal to the Tax Tribunal. However, such tax appeals are time consuming and complex to fight. It is therefore a tough decision for all but the biggest businesses to commence a tax appeal, all the more so where the tax in dispute is between £50,000 and £150,000 and there is a real danger that the usual cost of using specialist tax practitioners to fight the appeal, which is not recoverable from HMRC, will render the fighting appeal financially unviable.
To solve this problem Matheu Smith of Keystone Law has teamed up with Tarlochan Lall of Monckton Chambers to offer competitive fixed fees for fighting tax appeals. Click here for further information or email Matheu Smith to discuss a particular case in confidence.
