Katy has over 15 years’ experience advising on employment law.

Katy represents organisations and individuals on employment-related claims, advisory work and corporate transactions across a range of sectors and jurisdictions.

She has a particular expertise in complex and sensitive internal investigations, employee relations and workplace culture, grievance and disciplinary processes, senior management terms and exits, the employment aspects of private mergers and acquisitions, and redundancy.

 

Expertise

Katy advises on employment aspects of corporate transactions, including acquisitions, TUPE transfers, redundancies, and management integration, providing support to private equity, multinational, and US-headquartered clients across multiple industries.

Experience

  • Advised a US public chemicals company on the employment aspects of its acquisition of an environmental solutions technology company, including advice on management terms and unfair dismissal, negotiating settlement agreements and post-closing redundancy consultation process.
  • Advised a global investment management firm on the employment aspects of its acquisition of Nordic data centres and provided ongoing employment law support.
  • Provided ongoing employment law support for a US private equity firm on the employment aspects of its portfolio investments across the healthcare and energy and infrastructure industry.
  • Advised a leading US-headquartered pharmaceutical company on the employment issues arising in connection with its attempt to acquire the shares of a UK lens solution company.

Katy advises on executive exits, day-to-day employee relations, HR processes, employment documentation, restructuring, redundancy, and incentive arrangements, guiding organisations and private equity clients through workforce and management changes.

Experience

  • Provided day-to-day employment law support to the Group GC and HR team of an international sports and entertainment experiences company.
  • Worked with the HR Director of a UK based hotel business on settlement terms of a manager exit and the roll-out of new employment contracts for the workforce.
  • Provided advice to a US entertainment technology company on the redundancy of a UK-based employee.

Katie advises on Employment Tribunal claims, defending and conducting cases involving unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, and breach of confidentiality. She acts for employers in high-value and sensitive matters.

Experience

  • Advised in-house counsel on the breach of confidentiality obligations of a former employee and the defence of claims of automatic unfair dismissal, whistleblowing, sex discrimination and victimisation.
  • Defended a listed British house-building company against claims of age discrimination and unfair dismissal brought by a former main board director seeking £27 million+ in compensation.
  • Acted in the defence of an unfair dismissal and perceived disability discrimination claim brought against a leading medical devices company.
  • Defended a leading US airline against an Employment Tribunal claim arising out of the closure of its London-based call centre.
