Susan is a real estate lawyer specialising in both commercial and residential property. Her client base consists, largely, of retail owners, landlords and tenants. With 25 years’ experience, Susan is well placed to deal with a range of complex commercial property matters.

Susan is also a Notary Public with 19 years’ experience and can advise on all aspects of notarial work including authenticating company and business documents and transactions, certifying company documents, and witnessing signatures on contracts for the purchase or sale of land abroad. She is also registered at the Foreign Commonwealth and Development office for legalisation of documents including ACRO certificates, birth, death, and marriage certificates.

Susan advises on freehold and leasehold acquisitions, disposals, and leases for retail, offices, industrial, and mixed-use properties, handling lease renewals, assignments, surrenders, and development land transactions.

Experience

  • Assisting an established art gallery in acquiring their various commercial premises to include negotiating heads of terms.
  • Assisted and advised an established chain of estate agents in the sale of their portfolio of office premises.
  • Advised and assisted a high-profile barristers’ chambers in the acquisition of various freehold properties where purchases were made through a pension fund.
  • Successfully negotiated a restaurant lease on renewal under Part II of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 where tactics were used to secure a reduced rent for the tenant.
  • Advised on the simultaneous surrender of a lease, grant of a new office lease, underletting of part and licence to alter which involved coordinating various parties so that the transaction completed smoothly under a tight deadline.

Susan specialises in high-end freehold and leasehold residential property sales, purchases, leases, and mortgages, including licences to alter, tenancy agreements, and rent deposits, delivering tailored advice to landlords and tenants.
