Rahul is a specialist family Managing Associate with a growing practice in contested financial proceedings.

He works closely with high-net-worth clients to resolve complex financial and private children matters following the breakdown of their relationships. Rahul advises on asset structures both in the UK and abroad.

Rahul is an active member of Resolution and is committed to achieving results in a cost-effective and client-focused manner.

Expertise

Rahul advises clients on the financial aspects of divorce and separation proceedings, including Schedule 1 claims under the Children Act 1988 and Section 14 of the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996.

Experience

  • Successfully pleaded a Part III Jurisdiction application for permission to commence financial proceedings outside of Russia.
  • Provided advice on various financial aspects to a mother on the cessation of contact between her son and the father following severe domestic violence.
  • Provided advice to a wife on various personal safety and financial aspects after suffering a wide spectrum of serious domestic abuse.
  • Assisted on various specialist family financial aspects for the husband, a property consultant, on the separation from his wife.
  • Assisted on various specialist family financial aspects in a ultra-high-net-worth divorce case that was run in two competing jurisdictions (Monaco) where the client would receive circa £2m by way of a financial settlement and England where the client would achieve half of the assets originally estimated (50%) at £90k.
  • Assisted on various specialist family financial aspects on claim that the client’s wife should share in the cost of the client’s gender realignment surgery.
  • Assisted on various specialist family financial aspects for a British Indian UK property developer husband, who had valuable property interests with Wife and family in divorce proceedings.
  • Represented the husband in High Court proceedings to determine whether a financial consent order should be set aside due to material non-disclosure. The case also addressed the question of setting aside gifts because of a mistake or failure of basis. [James Morgan Copinger-Symes v Maria-Christina Copinger-Symes & Anor [2024] EWFC 415].
