Nick is an expert adviser to a wide array of recording artists, producers, songwriters, social media influencers, and other public figures, guiding them through every aspect of their careers, and navigating the complexities of the full spectrum of music and entertainment industry contracts.

With expertise spanning the music and entertainment industry across the UK, Europe, and North America, Nick also brings a unique insight into the Asian and Australasian markets.

In addition to working as a Partner at Keystone Law in the UK, Nick also works as a Consulting Principal at Keypoint Law in Australia.

Nick advises recording artists, songwriters, and producers on commercial contracts including recording agreements, publishing agreements, producer/mixer agreements, distribution agreements, and management agreements, guiding careers across UK, Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific markets.

Experience

  • Acted for a diverse portfolio of both emerging and established artists and songwriters in their negotiations with all major labels and publishers (Sony, Warner, Universal) and prominent independents.
  • Advised a high-profile songwriter in respect of the multimillion-pound sale of their songwriting catalogue.
  • Advised an emerging artist from the independent release of their debut recording, to signing a recording agreement with the world’s largest record label.
  • Advised a record producer in respect of their work on a multi-platinum hit that broke records throughout the world.
  • Advised on the launch of a new record label, and the formation and negotiation of all of its commercial contracts.
  • Advised French and Congolese recording artists Xavier Thomas and Julien-Makarabianko Nzaku Matumona (‘KOKOKO!’) on the negotiation of their new record deal with UK independent powerhouse Transgressive Records.
  • Advised record producer and songwriter Konstantin Kersting (producer of one of the biggest records of the last decade, ‘Dance Monkey’ by TONES + I) on a new exclusive publishing agreement with Ultra Music Publishing.
