Laurence is a skilled property litigator. He has expertise in all areas of property litigation including rights of way and other easements, both commercial and residential landlord and tenant disputes, adverse possession claims, removal of squatters/trespassers, modification of restrictive covenants, boundary disputes and residential possession claims.

Laurence is also a certified mediator.

Expertise

Laurence advises landlords and tenants on all aspects of leasehold disputes, including renewals, forfeiture, service charges, dilapidations, and breaches of covenant. He also acts on leasehold enfranchisement and residential possession claims.

Experience

  • Advising Transport for London in respect of various opposed lease renewals relating to the commercial use of a number of underground stations.
  • Advising a supermarket chain in an arbitration concerning the interpretation of a rent review clause.
  • Advising a government department in respect of a number of lease renewals and redevelopments of their properties.
  • Advising a hospital trust in an arbitration against their solicitors for failing to serve a break notice.

Laurence handles complex real property matters, including rights of way, restrictive covenants, boundary and nuisance disputes, and rights of light. He also advises on adverse possession claims and the removal of squatters.

Experience

  • Advising a house builder client in a claim against a landowner and the exercise of a right of way.
  • Advising the LDA in respect of securing land required for the Olympic site.
