• Advised Hertz on the inaugural term securitisation of its vehicle rental fleet in Germany and refinancings – the first time in Europe that public investment grade ratings have been achieved for a vehicle rental securitisation.
• Advised HSBC on the AAA rated securitisation of truck leases and the residual value of trucks in the UK operated by a leading German truck manufacturer.
• Advised The Royal Bank of Scotland plc on their accession to a pan European bank financing of Europcar’s vehicle rental fleet in Germany.
• Advised listed ICMA-compliant green bond offering of €25 million for Sustainable Capital plc, structured by Bedford Row Capital plc to finance the development and construction of five Smart Farm facilities in high-profile cities in Europe. The green bond will be listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange maturing 2024.
• Advised CarVal on the financing of a non-performing loan (NPL) purchase from FMS Wertmanagement. The NPL was secured against a 312-property retail portfolio which was geographically spread across the UK, which were also acquired as part of the purchase.
• Advised a major German bank regarding a £300m loan facility in respect of the re-financing of a landmark London riverside hotel.

• Acted for a German technology company in a patent dispute and expert determination proceedings with an Isle of Man company concerning net-fault technology used at Grand Slam tennis tournaments.

• Acted for German shipowners in a dispute with a Chinese yard arising out of contracts for the construction and sale of three self-unloading barges. Worked closely in conjunction with lawyers in Shanghai in relation to issues of ROC law, and also with a major German bank in relation to the preparation of bank guarantees.
• Advised an Indian company involved in a product liability dispute with German and English companies arising out of the supply of defective aluminium extrusions. Issues included conflict of laws, claims in contract and tort, and statutory claims.
• Advised a major German shipowner involved in a claim by chandlers for unpaid invoices incurred during the employ of five vessels under bareboat charters.
• Acted for the English distributor of a German luxury footwear brand on the termination of its distribution agreement for the UK after a 35-year trading relationship.

Acting for a large international contractor with headquarters in Germany in an adjudication in relation to the design and construction of an energy from waste plant involving claims totaling £10m. The main issues included delay and disruption, extension of time, defects and loss and expense.  

• Successfully represented parents in leave-to-remove cases involving South Africa, Germany and America.
• Advised a German national with business interests in multiple jurisdictions on his divorce, involving valuation and treatment of business interests and advising on financial settlement.
• Advising a German lady who lives in England in relation to her divorce from her wealthy spouse (same-sex marriage), which also involves a pre-nuptial agreement signed in Brasil, assets in Switzerland and a trust in the Cayman Islands.

Engaged in multi-jurisdictional proceedings with a value of £80m following complex arrangements put in place between various parties involving sums originally invested in pension schemes.
• Acted for a French merchant bank in London-based arbitration proceedings against a German company arising from fraudulent invoice factoring transactions.

• Successfully defended a German reinsurance company in arbitration proceedings relating to a pharmaceutical liability claim presented under excess of loss reinsurance contract.
• Successfully represented a German reinsurance company in the recovery of reinsurance claims paid by mistake, with recovery achieved without need for proceedings.

• Advising, and acting in several arbitrations for, a German shipyard against owners in relation to the construction of megayachts.  The main issues included delay in delivery, warranty items, exterior paint finish and costs.   
• Advising the owner of a passenger ferry in relation to the cancellation of the shipbuilding contract with a German yard.  The main issues included termination under the shipbuilding contract and at common law, refund of pre-paid instalments and recovery of general damages at common law. 
• Advising various German shipyards and owners in relation to construction, delivery and warranty issues in relation to superyachts and passenger and cargo vessels.  

• Renewed the tables and chairs licences every six and twelve months for a German restaurant franchise company.

• Administered multi-jurisdictional estates, including those comprising assets in America, The Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, Argentina, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Monaco, Kenya, Italy, France, Spain, Channel Islands, Republic of Ireland, Portugal and The Netherlands, and including preparing applications to reseal foreign grant of representation in England & Wales.
• Dealing with a range of English probate and estate administration cases involving tax issues and complex legal/succession issues in a number of other jurisdictions, including Spain, Germany, Italy, Israel, Brazil, Nigeria, Libya and France.

• Advised a syndicate of second lien lenders in the restructuring and refinancing of €405 million debt of Schefenacker plc, a German car parts maker.
• Advised Chenavari on the restructuring of mezzanine debt collateralised by a German shopping centre.
